I am sure if you were to talk to Skeeter or Brain about setting up a group for pump only something could be worked out. The key is, just like speedball and pump tournys, to have your ducks in a row before requesting it. If I were there trying to set it up I would contact everyone I knew that was interested and then go to either of the owners with your request showing that you have x number of players that would like to play this game on y date.

I wasn't talking about the pump tourny. Believe it or not, that took about six months or better of planning for Brian and I to pull together. We kept getting people who were interested, but wouldn't commit. That is what you need to do in order to get a recball thing going. Get commitments from people and ownership is typically open to anything that is good for the sport.

but mags can still shoot 15-20 shot a second
it would be smarter to have like a mech cocker/phantom day to weed out the 20+mags

its not about the gun its about the player
u can still beat ppl wiht mags if u have a phantom

first there are more mags than cockers ever at the field with the exception of sniper2s and a mech cocker phantom day would suck there would be maybe 30 mechs and more phantoms so bad idea and the reason i said this is just to highlight the fact that the mag industry which is believed to be slowing or possibly droping off would return after people seeing how they are such a great gun

umm i was actually talking about the mag community as a whole i know that pbc sells mags regularly
if PBC sells them regularly how could the community be getting smaller? im confused:eek4wd: so you're sayin the more guns they sell the less people in the community? seems ackwards bass to me. maybe every1 should just stop sellin paintball guns so the community will grow again...

You are actually correct in this one. Most new players go for the electro blasters that are cheaper than Mags, right off the shelf. This is unfortunate, since the Mag platform has been around for many years, and has proven itself worthy on EVERY playing format known to the sport. Many new players dont do the research, or have an interest in an amazing sound & quality mechanical marker. If they did, Mags would still be one of the best selling markers on the planet.
The industry has changed in the past 8-10 years. Gone are the days when Mags & Cockers ruled the field. There are just too many cheap markers, that shoot a very high volume of paint, for the AGD products to compete with.
Yes, Mag sales are down, from what they once were. On a good note, there are many more players on the planet, so a smaller percentage of a larger pool means the overall sales are not WAY down.
PBC has always been a very "Mag friendly" field, which is good for players AND the organization. It is about the only platform that we can sell, all day long, and NEVER have to worry about a "lemon" or even the occassional out-of-tune marker. They just work. We don't have to worry about broken markers or returns. They just work. There are tons of mods that can be done with Mags. They just work... They are almost the ideal marker, in many ways, except price. They are more expensive than many of the plastic electronic markers, and this can be attributed to the raw materials and the quality of build. They are not cheap, and never pretended to be. They were built solid, with amazingly tight tollerances, from a brilliant design. Put it all together, and you have a quality piece of hardware, but quality is not cheap.
All that being said, Mags are not as popular around the planet as they once were. They are still popular at our field because our players are WAY above average and appreciate the the product for what it is. Most other fields don't have the qulaity players that we do, and they won't be shooting the quality hardware that you see at our place.
Mags will never return to their glory days of the mid-late '90s, but they will be around long after most of the cheap disposable electros have been thrown in the trash.
As for a mechanical and/or pump only play day, it would be fun, and I could organize an event like this. We would treat it as a private group, staff it accordingly. Wonder how many players would be left for rec-ball? If it turns out well, we could do something like this once a month or so. We could also run a few days of mech/pump -vs- everyone else. Would be interesting.
