Well, i have a sniper 2 and when i pump my marker, the cocking rod isn't staying back. I have to pull it back and let it go to shoot my gun, kinda like an old west gun. I'm not real sure how to fix it. I'm kinda new to cockers and sniper 2's. Any suggestions are welcome. thanks

That is an easy adjustment. It is either your sear lug not being set deep enough or your cocking rod being threaded too long. That is the part that has a hex adjustment at the end of the cocking rod. I would recommend stopping by the store and having one of the guys show you what kind of tweaks you can do to make it shoot like butter.
The sear lug is adjusted by taking out your bolt and putting an allen wrench through the hole at the top of the body. clockwise adjusts it deeper and counterclockwise will make it shorter. The shorter you have it the earlier in the trigger pull the sear is released by the trigger. Of course if you have it too short then it won't grab the hammer at all, which is what I believe is your problem. The cocking rod adjustment is achieved by losening the allen screw located directly in the back of the cocking rod and screwing the hex nut in or out as needed, then tighten the allen screw in to lock the cocking rod into position.
Of course the first thing I would check would be to ensure your cocking rod hasn't just come loose. Then I would adjust the sear lug and lastly the cocking rod adjustment.
To get you started, here is a link to some recommended sites a few of us put together at Junkie's site. Remember, an autococker is just Sniper II with some added gadgets at the front.

have you taken it apart since i sold it to you? 1st take out your bolt. next there is a small hole in the top of the gun about 2 inches behind the feedneck. stick a 1/8 hex key into there while slightly pulling the cocking rod back a bit until you find the sear lug. then just turn it clockwise. what has happened is the sear lug has backed out from use and is no longer catchin on the trigger sear. i wont be at the field 2mrw to show you how to do this but geoff will. also it might be wise to put a spot of teflon tape around the sear lug to make it less susceptible to backing out. get me or sum1 like geoff or brad to help you take it apart if its your 1st time. but like i said i wont be there till probably thrusday so if you wait till then i can fix it and show you how to fix it yourself and other little problems that may occur. i can pretty much teach any1 to be cocker savvy. i choose not to cause it makes me an asset to PBC :D

edit: had i not stopped in the middle of typing this to take a poo this would have been posted b4 Deeps. pretty much same info. except im sure its ur sear lug cause the gun has worked w/ that cocking rod plenty b4.

One thing I would add is instead of teflon tape I would recommend a drop of blue loctite on the sear lug. I would take the sear lug out entirely, put a drop of blue loctite on it and let it dry before replacing it. That should create enough friction to prevent it from backing out again.

BTW, I don't know that much about cockers, I'm just a good guesser.

loctite wont dry w/o abscense of air. this is why you can leave a bottle of loctite uncapped and it wont dry. when you screw a screw into a threaded hole there is very little air then it drys. also when blue loctite is dried its very brittle and even kinda glassy so it breaks apart and shatters easily. so even if you could get it to dry on a surface(say by puttin it in a plastic bag and sucking the air out) then as soon as you try to screw it in it will just all break up.

Thanks for the help but me and chris fixed it. The spring in the frame keeping the sear up was not tense. It was too long so we cut it so it would fit better. He told me all about my gat and showed me how to adjust the sear lug and stuff like that so you don't have to worry casey.

yes i do have to worry cause that made absolutely no sense...if the spring was not tense enough it would normally mean it was too SHORT. having a longer spring would make it MORE tense. so cutting it would have just made it less tense. or did u mean to say the sear spring had just dislodged itself so it wasnt pushingg up on the sear anymore in which case simply placing it back in the correct position would have solved the problem. who is chris?

This is why you never take apart a gun you don't know anything about ..

When the spring in the frame keeping the sear up was too long, it was bending so we cut it so it would stay straight. i just typed it up there wrong. We shot it to make sure it worked and it did. Oh and i mean chris rapchick (guess thats how you spell it).

i fixed it. now he just needs a set screw for his cocking rod. the spring in the frame wasn't aligned right and wasn't pushing the sear up far enough.
