Seed ball come back?

I was at PBC a couple of weeks ago and there was new grass in the old speed ball area.I was wondering if the speed ball field is coming back.If so of long should it take.

last time they had a speedball field, it cost $10 to play.
if you had a year membership, it was still $10. (not including all day air or rental fees).

hope that it is still the case, but we wont know unless brain or skeeter see this and post some prices.

think of it this way...

lets just say that in total the speedball field has cost $25000(thats a good round number). how many people do u think that want to play speedball will either be on staff or be a "regular" w/ a membership? atleast %90. so how do u suppose PBC will make its money back for the field?

the only reason PBC can afford to have memberships for even recball is because only about %5-10 of people have them. the other %90ish pay full price to get in. if it were the same case as the SB crowd. PBC would be spending more in insurance/person on the field than they would be taking in from the 1/10 people who are paying.

the most logical way to get this rolling would be to talk to skeeter like DirtyD did and get a private speedball group set up. 395 for 20 people and instead of the paint we get all day air. it comes out to $20/person but if we get more people its only $10 extra per person and then it starts being cheaper on everyone. at 29 players it balances out to just less than $17 a person which is what you would pay anyways. also doin a private group youll get to request your very own ref(im always usually down for the job :D)

anyway you look at it speedball isnt a cheap persons sport. this is evident in the fact that most entry level tourny guns cost upwards of $400. not to mention $100 hoppers and $200 tanks. "if ya dont got the big bucks...gtfo[off] the field"

yah now i'd like that but i've got an a-5 stealth so it's not really designed for speed ball, and i'm kinda heavy built so the term "speed" doesn't really go well with me lol.


I would much rather play a day of speedball than rec. And just because your not built for it doesnt mean you cant play it, there is alot of big guys playing and are actually decent at it. Now xball, on the other hand, do require some sense of athletic body. And honestly, to all the people that dont like it because its "unfair", thats how you get better. It might not be as fun, but the best way to get better is to get crushed by people that are better than you. You learn how to mirror their actions and learn your mistakes.

and the money situation....If you dont wanna pay to play speedball, dont. I spend that in gas just to go to a field that has speedball, so if it is offered locally, and it is a good field, i Dont mind paying extra. Hell, if it helps any, ill stay 30 mins. later to help cleanup and deflate bunkers, if we can get a solid day of good play in.

alright, you have a few options if you don't want to pay the extra money on top of the membership.
1. open your own field. might sound like a fun idea but it is not. it is amazing that skeeter and brain have kept the field up and running this long. look at other fields, most of them burn out with-in 2-3 years. the field has been at this location for 5 years I beleive and before that it was at another field.
2. head up to paintball central for practice. you will spend more than $10 in gas alone.
3. bite the bullet and just pay the extra money. I know how you feel, I'm on the staff here and even we have to pay the extra money. I have no problem doing it. I bet even skeeter and brain have to pay.

moral of the storie is that you do have a few options to choose from, but only one is obviously feesable. (Joey, please forgive me if I spelled this wrong). Trust me, the field is actually losing money by having speedball but they are doing it as a favor to the players to pay them back for years of loyalty. Many of us have fought for almost a year to get speedball back and have helped with the upkeep of the field, so if you pay the extra $10, then I guess we can call it even:wink0st:

The percent sign is supposed to be at the end of the 100. It's not %100, it's 100%.

"the" should have the T capitalized. It's supposed, not suppose. A period or comma should go after 100. It's not %100, it's 100% is correct. Fixed it all in your quote
