Hey my name is Mike. I am about to be stationed at Parris Island, and heard this was the best speedball field near Beaufort. I have played CFOA since 2005. The only times I didn't play, was when I was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, and when I get back want to get some people together for a team.
I played for the BR Boyz, Team Havoc, and Gridlock in NC. I played for Black River Paintball/ BR Sportz.
My current gats are PM7, PM6, PM5, DMC. None are stock by any means.
Let me know if anyone is interested in getting a Novice or Amateur team together later this year. I'm serious about paintball, and want to compete in SC.

We don't have any real speedball teams out of Charleston. The best thing to do if you wanna play on an organized, dedicated team is to drive to Ballbusters in Lexington but that will be one hell of a drive for you. I'm not sure what there is for speedball to the south or west of you but we don't have a playable speedball field as of yet. It's still in the works but honestly, if you want an established dedicated speedball team, you're gonna have to be willing to take a drive. The most we do for speedball out of PBC i throwtogether teams for SCPFOA and some CFOA events.
If you played for Gridlock in 2007, then you should know Robbie Powell, Mike Grenade and Eddie Dawes? they're all from here so talk it up with them and they'll let you know what's up with this area around here.
welcome back to the states(not soon enough i bet!)

Ok, yeah I heard about BallBusters as well. I just don't know how far of a drive that is. I just want to get on a team. How far of a drive is it to Murder Beach from Parris Island?

PB USA is in MB and that's 2 hours from Charleston so just add 2 hours to however long it takes to get to Charleston from Parris Island.

I see, well I'm sure this question has been asked a million times. When is the airball fields supposed to be put in? There any speedballers that go out to PBC?

most of the kids that play speedball in the Charleston area travel to play seriously. A lot of us GLK kids go up to Ballbusters and play with Rellik/Affliction, a few kids play for Carolina Heat, Robbie plays for Raiden, i think Paul still plays for DC, and maybe a few others scattered about.
The field is built already. We put all the poles, cables, netting and lights up and are just waiting for the grass to grow. It's gonna be a very nice facility when it's finished.

Our speedball field is currently out of commission. Plenty of us are speedball players drive to myrtle beach/columbia/rock hill just to play. It is said that PBC is home to some of the most talent in SC, and plenty of local players get picked up to play for distant teams.
The speedball field is getting revamped, but currently most of our skilled players find the rec ball fields to be plenty challenging and very fun.

bluemidget- When do the teams you stated have tryouts?
guitarmaster- Is there going to be more than one field open for speedball? Or is going to be one field, that changes every week?

They've all got their squads already but nothing is stopping you from going up there and playign with them. Who knows, you may be invited to play with them if you impress the right people? basically, get to know and shoot the right people and you'll be much more likely to get on a team than if you don't.
There will be one field and it probably won't be changed anywhere close to weekly.

I went to bootcamp there back in '05. I am about to be a weapons and field training instructor there, as well as a Martial Arts instructor.

We're right next to the Air Force base too so you won't be the only military type out there.

For the field arangement. We will be down to 1 very lage 5-7 man field. We have had as many as 3 regulation air-ball fields in the past, but we are always changing and modifying the playing fields.
We are just waiting for the grass to come in completely. In the past, we would rotate field layout and change it a bit every week or two.

That's cool. I was just making sure there was going to be some kind of airball there. Possible xball?

Possible xball?
they definately will not have xball style fields since the field size isn't appropriate for xball play, the field is too long. also, they dont own the xball style bunkers right now either as far as i know.

Not true by any means. Just depends if you are playing against west coast teams. East coast teams are genuinely good, nice guys.
Mookie- I pmed you, pm me back.

Well, I want to start a 3 or 5 man team when I get down here. I just want to know if anyone on this forum will be committed enough to go to tourneys and such. Got some offers to play in NC still, but the drive is too long and I want to get some teams down in this area. If anyone is interested, post or PM me information about yourself. Please include tournament experience, gear, age, etc.
