I think the friendly fire during benghazi was a bit rediculous. There has to be a better way to keep friendly fire down to a minimal. Night play i can understand, But during daylight hours. It just was't right. And the helicopter idea has to go. I was sent out with a blue pole with a propeler on it. They said, i would be amune to fire. Did not happen. Some of the refs. didn't even know what it was. Bad idea.

unfortunately, that is what happens in paintball. friendly fire happens in all aspects of paintball-- woodsball, speedball... bonus balls, overshooting. people not listening to the rules about helicopter, etc.
it sucks, but what can be done. explain the rules more to people so they can understand? waste of time. you just go with the flow, and hope nobody gets hurt because of some others' actions.
hope it doesnt deter you from playing in further scenarios, not all are "bad" (if i can use that term for what happened)>

Maybe the helicopter should come with an orange vest?

I agree with the comments about the recce flight immunity (although of course the aircraft were actually Spitfires and MEs rather than helos). We were told you could shoot down a recce flight with another recce flight in the area. Probably all part of the fog of war. But it does not make for good play on a paintball field. Perhaps there could be designated AA/Flak sites which declare themselves as a recce flight goes by, knocking it out without having to shoot paint. The recce flight pilot should not have to be armed and should wear a vest of some sort.

I also think the whole spy thing has to be thought through. Some players turned up in ones or twos on the day to join the game and had no team or other friends on the field. When most of the allied players were away I had a choice between welcoming them and getting them started or simply leaving them standing there wondering what was going on.

Being half decent I naturally welcomed them and checked that they had everything they needed and then allocated them to a squad. (Some of these were lads of about 10 or twelve with little experience of paintballing let alone a full-blown scenario)

I think that real-time considerations of admin in the field makes it hard to reconcile looking after people and the actions of a spy. At the end of the day it is important to look after the younger element and I would rather risk being done-for by the spy than leave someone feeling unwelcome and not knowing what was going on.

Any thoughts out there ??

I think that a big reason for all of the freindly fire is that pepole do not put the band in the same place on the mask or it is just not visible enough. I think it would be better to have arm bands that could be seen from the front, side and back. maybe even on the hopper. This would make it a lot easier to see.

maybe even on the hopper and on your arm

One arm band is plenty. The problem is there are people who are either blind or forget they're on a team. In a situation like this, three or four bands wouldn't matter, they are still going to shoot when they see a target.

Maybe at the next scenario the goon squad will be there with their Intel, Medics, a Plane, snipers, and of course secret generals. Because General lead means extra points.
