alright guys had a good time this morning nice to finally meet alot of you. Mr Mike did a good job reffing we cleared up our one discrepency. no problems with overshooting or playing on while i was there all in all it was a good day. Only thing i would change is the field layout it wasnt really centered could shoot dead box to dead box but that will come with time. Enjoyed it guys!

i also had a great time. thanks "Dirty D" and Mike o'Neal for reffing for us. great play from everyone. yes the center 50 does need to be moved over just a tad so it will be in the center. it was thought that the flag needed to be in the middle so off setting that massive temple was the only way to fit both. i spoke to geoff and well get it set up right for next time. ild also like to thank geoff for getting all this rolling, brain for building the field and getting it ready to be played on(grass stood up excellently by the way), and everyone who voluenteerd saturday to set everything up.
a BIG turn out today. had to be nearly 40 people. ran good big games all day long which was awesome. i really enjoyed myself while playing today. i havnt had that much fun in a while.
i did help clean up 1 area i wasnt apart of today, so i would like to remind people that if they wish to continue to play we all need to do better about not leaving our areas and tables trashy. but i did only see 1 trash can so maybe another 1 or 2 will help out w/ this.
all and all HOT but nice play day. hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as i did. im sure the people who helped make it all happen would love to hear how you liked it on here so let them know.
p.s. there were 2-3 times as many people on speedball as there were recball today...who said recball was the sole bread and butter of the field?? the #s definately proved opposite today :D. hopefully it will be that way for days to come.

There are numerous trash cans. I brought 2 over yesterday and put beside the netting. No reason to leave trash anywhere but in a trash can.
I told Geoff before he even set up the field people would complain about the setup no matter how he did it. the big temple at the fifty will be removed. It was a novelty item for this weekend. It is a MAJOR pain in the butt to keep inflated/standing. Unless YOU volunteered to help put them up don't complain at all about how they are setup.
As for the bread and butter..... this was the 1st day of speedball. There are only 2 people on this forum that know what our bread and butter is so don't even go there. Keep up the numbers and at this rate in about 5 years it will pay for itself.
My suggestion is that everyone overflow with compliments to give us a warm and fuzzy feeling of accomplishment. If you don't like that idea, well....

Sorry. Only saw one. But I dragged it over to the trashiest area and put it to use.

thanks to brain for getting the field up.
thanks to geoff for organizing it so we can play on it.
thanks to the guys who set up the field. it was fun to play on that.
big thanks to mike and dustin for reffing on such a hot day. thanks for splitting teams up as fair as you could. it was fun every game i played.
hope we can do it again.....
edit: as far as trash, i put a ton in the can and left the boxes next to the can. will work on that again next time to get the boxes up for you guys. sorry if that was the area that was spoken of.

Today was a blast! I would really like the huge 50 to stay there and be put in the dead center. I wouldn't like it to go away :sad9cd:
Thanks to everyone who helped build and set up speedball!

one of those taco thingies, probably the hardest bunker to stay alive in. could be shot from literally any bunker on the field.
Thanks to everyone who helped out and everyone who showed up for this. It was a good time and I was impressed how smoothly it ran.
I was talking to Geoff about field layout and I know he's already got some ideas in the works for next time. I wouldn't worry too much about the layout, it was something different and we all got to see how it played. It will likely be adapted for future speedball days.
I appreciate the effort to setup the big temple. If it's a real pain or it cuts into playtime because we have to stop and re-inflate it, then I say replace it with something. Two standup cans for example.
Also, everyone should make themselves aware of the SPEEDBALL rules before coming out. There was some confusion over gun and leg hits, etc.
Other than that, all I can say is don't bother shooting at Joey, it's just a waste of paint when he breaks out his sick combat roll.
And then you'll get blowed up while you stand there dazzled by them moves.
P.S. Apologies to Chuck Norris, Casey Davis is my new hero.

Haha, the Casey Davis pump massacre will be carved into a tree for my grandchildren to hear about. Holy crap was that funny.
Glad everyone had a good time. I got a ton of great input today from a bunch of people and can now adjust the field accordingly.
One of the reasons we need to get rid of the temple is the amount of grass which will cease to exist underneath it, and it's a pain in the butt to fill up. We have plenty of other bunkers which can take its place, maybe we can do several cans there blocking the lane from home to home?
I appreciate everyone following the rules and not giving Mike any problems on the field. Everyone seemed to have a good fair time which is how I wanted it to be. (Keep your bounce in check though guys!)
With that said, speedball will take place next on Saturday the 19th and then will resume my previously arranged schedule in August on Saturday the 2nd, and then Sunday the 17th. September's schedule will be Saturday the 6th, and Sunday the 21st. These dates are subject to change at the will of the Owners, myself, or my ref staff, natural disasters or any other unavoidable obstacles.
I look forward to seeing everyones continued participation, sportsmanship, and positive/creative criticism.
Thank you,
Geoff Call

What makes that funnier is the fact that the temple was leaning on him so he was having to lean backwards but then he got shot by a girl(Ben bounces,no matter how many, still dont count:laugh8kb:)
And thanks again for everyone who made this possible and fun

Sounds like yall had a real good time I wish I could have been there to take some pictures of the fun... Just got a new camera and ready to use it for something like this. It would have been cool to meet all yall, but the August 2nd one I'll bring my camera and stuff for some pro pics if that's ok with the people in charge.

i had fun and i didn't even play. finally got my gun working at about 2 and by then it was to hot. Wasn't really feeling like spending money anyways.
I'm gonna try to play the next one and I'm sure i'll be out to help get it all set up and stuff again.
I agree on the temple at the 50. Me and geoff put it a little to the side so the flag could be in the middle but it would have been better served right in the middle.
All in all, i think it was a great showing of what can come in the future. If enough people show this same amoun tof support, I can see speedball staying around for a good while.

That was a blast. Thanks to Brain, Skeeter, Geoff and especially Mr. Mike for reffing. look forward to more speedball.
The funniest thing was when I yelled "Carter, Mini Ben is farther up the field than you, you should be ashamed" Carter then got up and ran down to their side of the snake.
Casey's autosniper masacare was also a highlight.

it was fun to listen to the carnage while hosting our lovely rec ballers... very entertaining to see a bigger crowd speedballin' than rec-ballin' ...was a little lonely for a bit in rec ball land! Glad everyone had fun...can't wait to attempt to play ref...and someday I'll come lay PAINt with you guys too!
Great job on the field ....thanks for the good sportsmanship...thanks for the volunteered man hours ... thanks for giving the speedballers a place to practice and play and tear each other apart instead of the rec-ballers!! (that's a joke guys...now its time to show us what kinda skeelz you really have!! Put up or shut up.... )

It was good to see such a good turnout at the field. I had fun helping Mike ref...Good games all day...they were kept very even so no one got slaughtered all day which is nice. Saw a lot of good fair play, most people properly reffing themselves as well as next to no disputes on the field. What the bounce on some of your guns, some of them were wicked fast...lol. I thought the field layout was nice and different to see.
I was standing right behind Casey during his sniperfest.....it was very nice....

Yah, i played Rec ball Also. There was not that many people but it was still a good day. Now I have a question, Im just curious how did you seperate the not so experienced players between teams. I would hope that mike which I dont think he would do this but I hope he did not put the new players to speedball on one team. If he did that they would just get massacred and it would not be fun.
I would have played Speedball but my gun is in the shop and I had to use a pump so I was just curious about that because Im a newer player to speedball and I dont want to be rejected by all of the better players just because Im not that good.I plan on playing next weekend but i dont want to be yelled at by my teamates when im not very sure of what im doing. You know, I want to learn Because it looks like alot of fun.
So next weekend I might play speedball and I was just wondering about how some of the player reacted to having (not so good) players on their team.

Mike picked the teams accordingly. There was no putting all players of the same skill level on one team, teams were even. People did not care who was on their team, it was just for fun. Speedball is not open next weekend though.

its for fun man, not for some prize, people won't yell at you if you do something wrong, and if they do it's to make you better not to make you feel like crap. hell, i made so many noob mistakes on sunday that i lost count, and no one yelled or made fun of me.
Mike did an excellent job of evening up teams, even split up his own MMK when it called for it. And I don't understand why people use pumps as an excuse to not play.. i played with my S6 (only for one game) and AT'd like a mad man but i still had a great time, even after being shot in the head.
