well the problem with an ion is, that once you buy it it's an alright gun, but then you end up spending about upwards of 300$ upgrading it so by that time you could of baught a shocker, or like 2 nerves since they are so cheap. If I were you I would look into buying a nerve becuase there has been a tremendous price drop lately on those.

I dont know about a nerve, good gun but hard to get rid of, if or when u get tired of it. There is a reason the price has come down so much.

yea- exactly what crunk said- i know from first hand experience... my ion is very nice, b ut i was better off buying a shocker. it is a nicer gun overall and the fact is, no matter how much you upgrade an ion, it's still an ion. period.

If you want one though, here is what you will get. Stock, it will perform well, a lot better than your tippmann. however, you will begin to notice that the stock barrel isn't the most accurate, the stock reg is not very consistent, the stock asa is horrible, and the feedneck wont fit most hoppers. what i did to remedy this is to buy an ultralite barrel, ccm no-pro feedneck, check-it unimount 2, cp reg, and kila reaction detents. later i bought a qev, a new body, and a new trigger, but those aren't necessary. also, the ion will give you many problems. once you learn to fix it by taking it apart, dropping in ups, and cleaning it, you will probably create problems, but you will be able to fix them as well. The only problems with my ion i have had are the banjo fittings and hoses. the stock banjo fittings wil break, especially if you over tighten them. the hoses will wear out, especially if you overpressurize the gun by taking the pressure over 200 psi. But in the end, once you get new banjo fittings and replace the hoses with stronger ones, the gun will perform awesome. in conclusion...

if you want a project gun that is cheaper up front, needs to be upgraded, and will teach you a lot about markers, then... get an ion.

if you want a stable, nice gun that is more expensive up front but doesn't need to be upgraded, and you don't need to remedy beyond board settings, get a shocker.

if you are rich, screw it... get a timmy or a dm.

and to keep this thread on topic....no ion. u could get a nice mag w/ x-valve and it will preform 10x better w/ 10x less trouble. and the fact the it RTs instead of ramps like an ion means ull be able to shoot crazy fast at PBC seein as how we dont allow rampin anymore :(. so just a lil input...mags are great guns if i wasnt offered a freeflow eblade for mine i would still have it...mine was a MAD face mower...later

I had one bro like I said, it wasn't worth it. It was a crappy gun when it wasn't at ICD getting fixed. Get something that you can easily get parts for and that people know about. That is more valuable then anything else.

yea- ion parts are everywhere, most ion owners are always looking for new upgrades for their guns. and if you get an ion like you should, come to me for any work or help you need for it

if you want a bko, just get a b2k4 with pds for like 50 more. but its never instock so find it new on ebay.
