This site gives you an idea of what the government wants to waste your tax dollars on:

http://www.stimuluswatch.org/project/by_state

Their intentions are good, but if they were not so stupid, they would see that this approach is exactly the wrong thing to do!

They want to create "work", but not "jobs"... Sure, some construction workers will have a temporary job for a year or two, but in the end, they will still be unemployed, and the nation will be 3.2 TRILLION DOLLARS deeper in debt! What happens in 4 years, when we have spent 800 BILLION DOLLARS (before interest) on these tasks & everyone who was employed by this spending is unemployed again? This is not the way to create JOBS! By the time we pay this off (if we can, ever), the interest will have driven the final bill to 3.2 TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

screw this man. I believe yesterday they announced the US debt surpassed the gross GDP of the entire world. Or they could have announced that as a calculated number soon to come. Either way, we are out trillllllions of dollars TRILLIONS.

to be exact:

http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/debtiv.gif

"The estimated population of the United States is 305,671,198
so each citizen's share of this debt is $35,309.81."
Horray, you owe the world $35, 309.81! Thank you President Bush and the Republicrats, thank you President Obama and the Democrats! We're all screwed!

What happens if I was able to pay off that $35,309.81? Please say i get no taxes taken out of my checks! That would be sweet! I know what i'm doing when i win the lottery.

But on a serious note, thats fing ridiculous.

NO YOU HAVE TO PAY YOUR TAXES OR YOU WILL BE FINED, AMERICAN CITIZEN!

Wait, what about that load of horse shit where Geitner didn't pay income taxes for years? A simple "mistake"? Hardly! And 0 fees to boot! If you or I did that, we'd be heavily fined. The man who is now in charge of the IRS didn't pay his taxes. He failed to pay $34,000 in taxes from 2001 to 2004. Zero repercussions, and the man is now the Ssecretary of the Treasury.

The income tax is a joke, but that is another battle for another day. This whole mentality that "the government is the solution, the free market is what got us into this mess" is a load of crap. The truth couldn't be more different. And here we go throwing paper money onto the fire. Toss the blankets, people it's gonna get HOT.
