Is it the ACT or the SAT that counts against you when you get them wrong? And just how is the test set up?

I was invited to take the SAT in 8th grade, same exact one you enter college in, and scored a 900 on it, this obviously didn't have anything to do with getting into college, but it was to see what should be expected when the person taking the SAT grows up and takes the SAT for college entrance. Also, I'm not talking about the PSAT, this was the real SAT. It's boring, long, and really repetative. Don't slack off, no matter how boring it is, tough it out, and you'll do fine, and use that edumacation .

Well my essay prompt was decent but make sure you bring your own watch to time each section. Remember that the math section without multiple choice does not count against you but everything else does. Each section is 25 minutes except for the last couple which I believe are 20 and 10 minutes or something along those lines. You should bring water and snacks and prepare for boredom for 6 hours.
i took my sat this year (7th grade) and bring your own calculator, when your allowed to use it, it helps alot.
on mine, there was alot of stuff about plots, so make sure you know some of the stuff like that.
and don't freak out about it, the more you do the worse you will do.

What do you mean plots? Like math graphing or English book plots? And if you're in 7th grade are you sure it wasn't the PSAT?

Around 7th and 8th grade, you can be recommened by your teachers to go and take the actual SAT.

Yeah there right i got asked to take it in 8th grade but declined because I thought it would be a waste of time. BAD IDEA!

Also on the writing, don't worry if you don't finish. The scorers are more interested in seeing your write out your complete, detailed thoughts than seeing you actually finish. Essays that are half done can get better scores than ones that are completely done, just because the thoughts are more complete and have better examples supporting their statements.

Honestly, the essay section was the one I was least worried about. AP English paid off.

From what I remember....I took the SAT in 1996 :D.....I beleive you get a percentage (of a point I think) taken off for wrong answers. I do not believe you get points taken off for blank answers. My mom actually made me take prep courses at the local Tech school before the test and I ultimately took the SAT 3 times (that I can remember) attempting to better my score each time.
I do recommend that you check out the rules though to verify this as it can dramatically affect the way you need to approach the test!
Enjoy your SAT and good luck!!

i took it in 7th, and math plots, also it used a bunch of math diagrams.
and the essay some people say the colledges don't read them, so do not worry that much about it, unless your trying to get a scholarship in writing or some writing related subject.

That is false and ridiculous. It wouldn't be on the SAT if they just through them away. They read them and they do make a difference. My freshman focus teacher used to grade SAT essays. She said that they look for structure(intro. body con.), a thesis, and for the writing to stay on subject. the prompt may be something that you've never done but they put those random prompts to make people think about it and improvise.

yes, i thought that too, but after my sister took the sat, and got into penn state, and got about a 5-6 on the essay, it isn't too much.

Freshmen Focus was a joke. She didn't grade the papers. She only looked for MLA format.
