PaintballCharleston Top Gun (1v1) Tournament

This is to gauge interest in a possible top gun tournament held at the Paintball Charleston speedball field.

Open division, anyone can play.

Price will be determined later once I get a better idea of who would be interested and how much it'd cost to get the field to host it.


Format will just be like a normal tournament, except you're the only person on your team. We could do this semi or PSP 10 (pending the field allowing it) since some people can shoot 20bps while others like me can shoot like 9. Pump would be fine, but I can't promise everyone else'll be shooting pumps.

Prize will be dependent on the turnout, I'm thinking something like $100 at least for first, $50 for second, $25 for third, etc, probably even better.

Paint limited to 2 pods and a hopper I suppose, since it'd be ridiculous to have someone bring out 10 pods and just dump paint all day. Time limit something like 3 minutes a game.



If you're interested, post. If this happens, the more that play, the higher the prize money, the more fun the tournament.


And to make this clear, this is in no way shape or form a field sponsored event, although I hope that it perhaps can be if things turn out favorably :)

I'm thinking if we can get 20 people, make entry fee $40 which yields a $100 first, $60 second, and $40 third (you played for free). The other half of the $40 entry is to rent the field for the day.

I think it'd be best to wait until Brain and Skeeter work out the store situation before asking them to take on anything else minor like this though.

your math doesnt make sense.

20 x $40= $800

private party = $340-400 (depending on the exact amount).

prizes = $200

i wouldnt even post a prize amount until you see how many people are interested, then base it off a percentage of the total. rather than list a certain dollar amount.

I put on 2 of these tournaments a while back and had around 15-20 people at each one. Hopefully there would be a decent crowd at this one too, I'm down as well to play.

private party for speedball was $340 (no paint included). basically, $10 per person + $7 all day air. but had to have 20 people.

you could still do $25-30 per person, and give a nice tip to the ref.

ill run it. i can use the same point/elimination system as i did in the pump tournament. make sure everyone gets to play each other atleast once. points awarded to winner 4 people w/ highest points go on to finals.

maximum playing time for everyone. w/ a bit extra to the finalists.

no one wants to play double elimiation system. lose your first 2 games and you basically payed ($30-40) to play 5 min of paintball? doesnt sound fun to me.

Since this is not quite a "PBC" event, it would be better if you handled the finances. I'll staff it. I'll even let Casey coordinate & manage it, but only as a non-participant (to avoid "conflict of interest" situations). I'll even design the schedule, based on the number of registrations (more difficult than you probably realize). You get to experience the fun of coordinating the event, tho. Sounds fun & can be easy if done properly, but it's usually a big pain in the butt. That "joy" is all yours...

It would be smarter and much easier to just set a price. No refunds, no discounts. Do the math and figure out what is a decent entry fee and stick to it. Not sure about the paypal thing.
